Permaculture in my personal life

Permaculture design, service design, and systems design require studying interconnected patterns, finding and understanding the impacts of variables and considering the long term impacts of each decision made. Permaculture practices in ranch management means we regularly watch and analyze the processes we have in place and their impact on the health of our land and our livestock.

  • In my professional and personal life I take a holistic approach and consider all elements within a given set of systems and their interconnectedness.

  • At times prioritization must be made, to allow pasture time to recover we may move our goats from grazing to hay and feed for 1-3 months in the winter.

  • We have also had almost daily moves to allow the goats to clean up areas of overgrown invasives in our woodlands. This intensive movement prioritizes long-term sustainability and viability allowing both land and animal to thrive.

  • Adaptability is in my DNA. Living overseas, restoring natural habitat along the Chattahoochee River, and learning to farm. Each new opportunity comes with new challenges that I can embrace.

Blending my life learnings enables me to create and improve systems that are functional, resilient, and user-centered, leading to more successful outcomes.
